The Rock Creek Select 16U team played in the Pastime Tournaments National Championships in Louisville, KY this past July 3-??. The field was combined of 104 teams from across the country with RC having traveled the furthest to compete in the tourney. Rock Creek played teams from Indiana, and Illinois in pool play. The boys went 2-2 in pool play, after two solid wins the boys took two tough losses to end pool play.

RC was placed in the silver bracket after that and was the 45 overall seed. From there the boys went 4-0 in the silver bracket to win the Silver division championship! Rock Creek beat teams from Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky en route to winning. The team really played well the last 4 games and won some close battles. The team won 4-3,1-0, and 5-3 before winning the championship 10-3. The 4-3 win vs and Illinois team was a come from behind victory when the team scored 3 in the top of the 7th to win. Their 1-0 victory vs Ohio was a scoreless through 7 innings which ended in a walk-off win in the bottom of the 8th!

All and all the kids played really well throughout the week and battled the heat and humidity. Everyone in the team contributed throughout the week with strong pitching performances when they needed them and had clutch hits throughout the lineup! We are really proud of how the boys played and represented Rock Creek and the Northwest in the tournament. We could tell that the teams we played didn’t know what to expect from us, but from the first pitch they knew they were in for a fight!
