13U Team Wins Yakima Swing into Spring Tournament

This past weekend the 13U team participated in the Yakima Swing into Spring Tournament- this was their first tournament of the season. The 13u team started the tournament claiming a 11-3 victory over the Walla Walla Wolfpack. Their next game was a nail biter versus the River City Athletics. In the 7th inning Dylan Watts hit a bases clearing triple which drove in 3 run. The next batter, Pierson Dengah hit in the Watts with a walk-off hit to take the win 10-9. Their last seeding game was also a close one as they took victory over West Valley BBC, winning 5-4. 

On Sunday the 13U team started the day playing the top seed Rebel team.  In the bottom of the first Rock Creek started out the game hot driving in 3 runs. In the third inning they did it again as Pierson Dengah, Gavin Garcia, and Hayden Mirante all drove in runs. The Rebels battled back in the 4th inning cutting the deficit in half bringing in 3 runs of their own. Rock Creek did not let that stop them from driving in two more runs in the bottom of the 5th. In the 6th inning the Rebels scored another three runs bringing the score to 6-8 with the RC advantage. In the 7th inning Rock Creek was able to prevent any runs scored, clinching the victory and moving onto the championship. 

In the top of the first inning Logan Pierce fired up the offence driving in the first run of the game with a double.  In all, the team was able to start the game with putting up 3 runs in the top of the first. Hayden Mirante allowed only six hits and four runs in the three innings he pitched. As the game drew into the 6th inning the score was tied 4-4. In the top of the first Rock Creek rallied driving in 6 runs! This big inning was driven by singles by Pierson Dengah and Jesse Mazziotti and doubles by Noah Lee and Dylan Anderson. In the bottom of the 7th Rock Creek Prevented any runs from coming in holding onto the 10-4 victory and claiming the trophy as the 2018 Swing into Spring Tournament. Congratulations boys, well done!
