Joshua Mears a six-foot-three, 230 pounds, Rock Creek alumni was ranked MLB Pipelines No. 118 Draft prospect in 2019.  Mears showed off some late-blooming loud tools that helped him surge into the second round to the Padres that summer. After, getting to move up to a full-season of ball due to the loss of the pandemic season that year, he logged over 50-plus games at both Single-A and High-A. Mears, the 22-year-old outfielder crushed 22 home runs across three levels of minor league baseball in the Padres organization in 2022, and with that being said 14 homers in 52 games with the TinCaps.

It's stated that when Mears does make contact, it's incredibly loud with exit velocities that consistently hit above 110 mph and it came to no suprise that he finished 2022 with nearly as many homers (22) as singles (28).

Currently, the former second round draft pick is set to begin the 2023 season with the TinCaps. In news article, FOX 55 Fort Wayne, he mentioned he's focused on this summer is cutting down his strikeout numbers.

As the Fort Wayne TinCaps have started their season this April, Mears has continuously been a ket asset to his team and has hit multiple home-runs early in the season so far.
