The boys played great through weekend, especially with the conditions, the theme of our weekend quickly became “play catch”. The team was down in every game until the championship. The first game of the tournament on Saturday, we went down 4 runs in the first, but ended with the win 8-4. Game #2 Saturday the team started down 3 and rallied back to tie the game in the top of the 6th to secure a number 1 seed. Sunday, the semi-final was played in the worst rain of the whole weekend and ended up down only 1 run in the bottom of the 5th. We tied the game with a base hit and with 1 out and 2 runners on we perfectly executed a suicide squeeze to take the lead. We went on to score 3 more runs and close it out in the 6th inning. The boys went into the championship game soaked and tired and had to scramble to move fields while our opponents were rained out. During the championship game both team’s pitchers battled without giving up a single run until once again the boys found a way to scratch a run across on a passed ball. In the final inning, we made a game saving dive play in the outfield and stuck out the last batter to finish the 1-0 shutout.
